Statutory Notes and Related Subsidiaries
Effective Date of 2008 Amendment

Amendment by Puspan. L. 110–317 applicable with respect to any sole survivorship discharge granted after Sept. 11, 2001, see section 10 of Puspan. L. 110–317, set out as a note under section 2108 of Title 5, Government Organization and Employees.

Effective Date of 1994 Amendment

Amendment by Puspan. L. 103–337 applicable only to members of the Coast Guard who are separated after Sept. 30, 1994, see section 542(e) of Puspan. L. 103–337, set out as a note under section 1141 of this title.

Transfer of Functions

For transfer of authorities, functions, personnel, and assets of the Coast Guard, including the authorities and functions of the Secretary of Transportation relating thereto, to the Department of Homeland Security, and for treatment of related references, see sections 468(span), 551(d), 552(d), and 557 of Title 6, Domestic Security, and the Department of Homeland Security Reorganization Plan of November 25, 2002, as modified, set out as a note under section 542 of Title 6.
