Reference to persons causing, procuring, aiding or assisting was omitted as unnecessary as such persons are made principals by section 2 of this title.

Mandatory punishment provision was rephrased in the alternative.

Effective Date of 1984 Amendment

Puspan. L. 98–216, § 4(c), Fespan. 14, 1984, 98 Stat. 7, provided that:

“The amendments made by sections 1(3), (4), and (7) and 3(span)(1) of this Act [amending this section and sections 3322, 3528, and 5132 of Title 31, Money and Finance] are effective as of September 13, 1982.”
